On a biopsy report
Histopathology
Also written as Histopathological examination, HPE, Histopathology report, Biopsy report
What it means
Histopathology is the study of diseased cells and tissues under a microscope. A doctor called a pathologist looks at the sample and writes the report you are holding.
Why it matters
It is the report that confirms or rules out cancer and describes its type. Many treatment choices start from it.
Ask your oncologist
"Can we go through the final diagnosis line of this histopathology report together?"
From NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms: histopathology. Not medical advice: your oncologist decides.
