Prostate cancer
ISUP grade group
Also written as Grade Group, ISUP grade, Grade group 1, Grade group 2, Grade group 3, Grade group 4, Grade group 5
What it means
The Grade Group is another way to describe prostate cancer from a biopsy. It is based on the Gleason score and runs from 1 to 5. The lower the number, the more the cells look like normal cells and the slower they are likely to grow.
Why it matters
It is used to help plan treatment and judge the outlook. Your oncologist decides.
Ask your oncologist
"Which Grade Group am I, and how does it affect watch-and-wait versus treatment?"
From NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms: Grade Group. Not medical advice: your oncologist decides.
