Treatment words
Complete response
Also written as CR, Complete remission, Complete radiological response, Pathological complete response, pCR
What it means
A complete response is the disappearance of all signs of cancer in response to treatment. This does not always mean the cancer has been cured.
Why it matters
It is a good result of treatment. Your oncologist explains what follow-up is needed.
Ask your oncologist
"With a complete response, how will we watch for the cancer coming back?"
From NCI Dictionary of Cancer Terms: complete response. Not medical advice: your oncologist decides.
