Removing GALE boosted immune cell killing in colorectal cancer models

In lab tests, mouse models and organoids grown from patients’ colorectal cancer, removing GALE helped immune cells kill more tumor cells.

“Together, these findings reveal how nucleotide-sugar metabolism shapes tumor-immune communication through complex N-glycan remodeling and identify GALE and its downstream receptor-ligand interactions as potential therapeutic targets for enhancing Vγ9Vδ2 T cell antitumor activity.”

Blocking BAZ2A restored engineered immune cells in mouse kidney cancer

In mice with renal cell carcinoma, blocking BAZ2A reduced palmitic acid buildup and restored the cancer-killing activity of engineered immune cells.

“These findings reveal an epigenetic-metabolic mechanism of immune resistance and suggest that targeting tumor lipid remodeling represents a therapeutic strategy to overcome CAR-T resistance in solid tumors.”
