Personalized vaccine cut recurrence risk in melanoma after surgery
In a phase III trial, 1,137 adults with high-risk melanoma received pembrolizumab with intismeran autogene or alone after surgery. Adding the vaccine reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 42%.
What this means. A large, final-stage trial in melanoma, a skin cancer. This is the kind of result regulators use when deciding whether to approve a treatment.
The ASCO Post, 26 Oct 2026 · Phase III human clinical trial | 1,137 adultsFDA approves talazoparib with enzalutamide for prostate cancer
In a trial of 599 people with certain metastatic prostate cancers, talazoparib plus enzalutamide kept cancer from growing longer than enzalutamide alone: the time before growth was not reached, versus 45.8 months. Overall survival data were not yet mature.
What this means. Approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for prostate cancer. Doctors can now prescribe it outside a trial.

In a Phase III trial, 1,1137 people with high-risk melanoma received pembrolizumab plus a personalized vaccine or placebo after surgery. The vaccine combination reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 42% compared with pembrolizumab alone.
“Five-year follow-up data from that trial, presented at American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting 2026, suggest that the vaccine plus pembrolizumab may help patients live longer compared with pembrolizumab alone, but the analysis was based on limited data and did not definitely demonstrate an overall survival benefit. “Everyone is very hopeful that this will be a new way to treat patients with melanoma,” said Robert H.”
What this means. A mid-stage trial in liver cancer. Good results at this stage usually still need a larger trial before approval.

In a phase III trial, people with melanoma received intismeran autogene and pembrolizumab after surgery. The combination reduced the risk of recurrence or death by 42%.

Cancer Discovery, 26 Oct 2026 · Phase III human clinical trialEicosapentaenoic acid linked to longer survival after colorectal cancer liver surgery
In a phase III trial, 418 people having surgery for colorectal cancer that had spread to the liver received eicosapentaenoic acid or placebo before and after surgery. Estimated five-year survival was 62.0% with eicosapentaenoic acid and 45.1% with placebo.
What this means. A large, final-stage trial in bowel cancer. This is the kind of result regulators use when deciding whether to approve a treatment.
The ASCO Post, 26 Oct 2026 · Phase III human clinical trial | 418 patientsAbiraterone improved long-term survival in metastatic prostate cancer
In a phase III trial, men with metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer who added abiraterone to standard treatment including docetaxel had an 8-year survival rate of 40.3%, versus 27.1% with standard treatment alone.
What this means. A large, final-stage trial in prostate cancer. This is the kind of result regulators use when deciding whether to approve a treatment.
The ASCO Post, 26 Oct 2026 · Phase III human clinical trial | 1,173 menTrial tests risvutatug rezetecan for osteosarcoma
A phase 3 trial compared risvutatug rezetecan with gemcitabine plus docetaxel in Chinese patients whose osteosarcoma returned or resisted treatment after ≥2 prior treatment lines. The source gives no trial results.
What this means. A large, final-stage trial in sarcoma. This is the kind of result regulators use when deciding whether to approve a treatment.
